BCE Global Tech didn't want a quiet engineering floor. They wanted a team that wanted to come in.
The Brief
BCE Global Tech needed a GCC floor that could attract and retain engineers in a competitive Bengaluru talent market. The brief asked for a design that put social infrastructure — the games room, the café, the informal collision zones — at the centre of the floor plan, not the corner. Engineering density had to be maintained. But the floor had to give engineers a reason to choose the office over working from home.
The Challenge
80,000 square feet across a constrained floor plate in Electronic City, with a 120-day build window running alongside an active phased hiring campaign. The social spaces could not feel bolted on — they had to be load-bearing in terms of culture.
What we designed
Designed to the five conditions of the Performance Climate.
Ground
Biophilic materiality throughout — natural wood, concrete and planted edges — so the floor felt grounded and tactile rather than corporate.
Air
Acoustic planning kept the social zone acoustically contained so it did not bleed into the adjacent engineering benching.
Light
Floor-to-ceiling glazing runs along the collaborative zone, carrying daylight into the social core where occupancy is highest.
Flow
The games, café and lounge zones are placed along the main circulation spine, so everyone passes through on the way in and out.
Focus
Engineering benching is set away from the social zone with a clear acoustic and visual break so heads-down work remains protected.
What we built
Custom joinery, the café counter, the acoustic slat wall and the games-zone furniture were manufactured in Jigani and installed in a single coordinated site sequence.
